Tree of Light, Stone of Time

A quiet wash of afternoon light drapes the Davis Mountains near Fort Davis, TX. A lone cottonwood stands across the wash, its far-off branches catching the light. Though small in the frame, its color anchors the composition, drawing the eye and lending a quiet, human scale to the vast landscape. Rugged volcanic peaks stand calm and as a timeless backdrop. Juniper and sotol silhouette the foreground, their textures softened by a gentle breeze and the slow hush of evening approaching. This is a place for breathing slow, for watching color change and shadow deepen — a moment of stillness on the edge of wild country that feels both intimate and vast.
