My First Visit to Caddo Lake
Photographing a cypress swamp has been on my bucket list for years. So, in early November I took a few days to drive out to East Texas to visit this spectacular location!

Van Life and landscape photography on the California coast in January
After several months away, I finally made my way back to California from Texas, eager to reunite with the ocean.

Had wonderful adventures the last two weeks driving up to Denver for my grandson‘s first birthday and some planned stops along the way for some milky way photography. I’ll post some of those later.
On my way home, three days ago I drove the million dollar highway (US 550) between Ouray and Silverton, Colorado. I’ll also post some more of those later, but this one is what they call the most photographed cabin in Colorado. A little research was involved to locate it but not too difficult to find. It’s at an unmarked dirt pull off, and I did have to scamper around the hillside a little bit to get a different perspective with a composition featuring more colorful trees and better framing than you can photograph from from the pull out itself.

Today I drove down Colorado 285 not really expecting to see any fall colors yet. But a major surprise, it was really beautiful! Tomorrow I’ll be heading over to the San Juan mountains to try to get a nice photograph of Mount Sneffels in full fall foliage.

“The Maharaja’s Palace “
13 or 14 years ago, I went to India on a yoga retreat. It was with a group of yogis from California and we also visited lots of cool places like a fabulous ashram, an amazing five star hotel, and this place, among others.
This photo has always been a favorite of mine and has always gotten noticed favorably when I put it out on social media. Today, I was notified that it’s up for an award in another competition that I entered a couple of months ago.
It seems that now that I’m getting older and not getting out in the field as much to photograph that I’m starting to enter these competitions. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how well my photography is being received in these competitions. This is the fourth photograph of mine in the last three months getting chosen!
Because I have a huge library of photos, it’s fun going through some of the really old ones to see what might be appropriate. Of course, obviously with more than 250,000 photos in my library, I can’t go through all of them each time. It’s fun though to see some old favorites pop up that I hadn’t seen for quite some time.
This was an actual palace where the maharaja still lives and I remember having to pay an extra $20 or $25 for a permit to photograph. Definitely worth it because of this amazing architecture that you just don’t see every day.

Uncrated
The last time I went to Bombay Beach to visit the art installations there were several new ones, including this. Sadly, I also noticed that the water level had gone down significantly exposing much more beach. I don’t know how many more years we have for this place to exist, but I sure do enjoy going back time after time whenever I swing through Southern California.

Photo Flashback to December 2021, when I stumbled upon these totally absurd Dr. Seuss trees at the Salton Sea.

More beach photography fun. To add visual contrast, I softened out the water against the jagged and oddly colored reddish rock by using a shutter speed of half a second.
Even though I did this on my main camera, you can also do it on your smart phones with the right long exposure app.

Yesterday I posted that giant Recycled Roadrunner which happens to be located at a beautiful rest area overlooking Las Cruces, New Mexico, with the jagged Organ mountains in the background.
It was clear from the weather forecast there would be no clouds at sunset so I wasn’t having high expectations to get an interesting photograph of those mountains. I did a little playing around with long exposures to catch the headlights and tail lights on interstate 10. That’s not normally something I do but it was a fun experiment.
Myself and three or four other vans ended up staying there overnight. I think I was the earliest up and out of there since I had about 450 miles to drive today.

The roadrunner rest stop
Today I am in New Mexico on my way home. This rest area on I-10 at Las Cruces has a fabulous sculpture of a roadrunner. If you look close at the photos, you’ll see that it’s made from old computer parts and shoes... lots and lots of shoes.
I came here to check out the Organ Mountains. Conditions won’t be all that great because there won’t be any clouds in the sky this evening or in the morning, but I’ll see what I can get before a long day of driving tomorrow to get deep into Texas and close to home. I’ve been away three weeks and it’ll be great to get back! #roadrunner #LasCruces #4yearslongproject

Home from a week road trip up to New Mexico. Two classic photos of white sands, plus the bonus sun dog photograph. I have so many photos to go through and hoping to find something more unique to process.
Meanwhile, a reminder that my print shop has eight of my photographs available right now on limited release. They all go away on Wednesday, so time is short if you were thinking about picking one up for yourself or a friend. I don’t plan on bringing any of them back for quite a while. I’ll be putting up a new batch in January. You’ll find them on my website.
Your 2025 calendar, which includes 13 of my favorite photos from the past year is also still available on my website, keithcuddeback.com

It’s been a fabulous week, shooting sunrises and sunsets with my photography adventure group at White Sands! Last night was the best sunset I’ve ever seen here, and I’ve seen quite a few over the years.
Here are a couple of iPhone shots from yesterday since I haven’t done anything with the photos on my main camera yet.
Reminder that the 8 photographs for sale in my print shop are in their final few days on my website keithcuddeback.com
